I find it creepy how people choose to rp real people rather than fictional characters.
Mod note: I don’t think that choosing to roleplay a celebrity ( or themselves ) is that much different than choosing to play as a character that they represent. You’re still using their face, and so on, and it certainly isn’t anywhere near as “creepy” as some of the things you come across when browsing the tags of said celebrity.
I also don’t think it is much different than writing fanfiction or drawing fanart containing them.
Gonna have to disagree with most of that - pretty gross. Also gross to write fanfiction about them. At least with characters you’re keeping your distance. I’ve had many fic writers send me fanfiction that was about a celebrity, not a character they had played, and I can’t even read it - I try to be nice about it, and just let them know that I don’t archive that kind of thing because it’s off topic but I still have a hard time even having it in my inbox. :/
I agree whole-heartedly with this graphic, though.
The Walking Men?
I remember last season on TWD when everyone hated Carol & Lori, citing their woman-ness in every possible way as the problem (not enough like the men, not enough like Daryl). And all of those people *loved* Andrea, because she was shooting shit and taking charge.
As soon as Andrea’s story changes, and she’s allowed for a moment to fall back into the pattern of being a woman, literally *everyone* turns on her. Now I hear a lot of people go on about what a bad ass Carol is, when it was the exact opposite story last season - I can’t be the only one who remembers this!
Everyone is free to like or dislike whatever character they want, but the blatant favoritism towards men and manliness and venom towards women and femininity screams sexism so loudly that it makes my ears ring. To think women are jumping on the bandwagon…
So Andrea has crap taste in men? So what? Does it really make her a whore? Did it really make Lori a whore in season 1 to find comfort in an attractive, familiar man when the world was over and she thought her husband was dead? Seriously, that makes her a whore?
Did having to heal after the trauma of domestic abuse and the death of her child really make Carol weak and whiny? Did she really deserve to die for that?
I’m sorry, normally I don’t get into this kind of thing, but I’m having a hard time shutting the vitriol out and what I’m hearing is disgusting. I’m one of the few who likes/loves all of the characters, and while I can understand that not everyone will feel that way, what I don’t understand is, “You have woman parts, bitch, if you’re not as bad ass as I think you should be then you should just kill yourself.”

Can’t stop laughing at this! I think I feel as bad for the cast as I do for the likely mortified writers!
I haven’t written anything in months and months, and I can’t seem to get back into Strangers, for some reason. I’m trying to get back into my fandom-life, but I have no clue if I’ll be able to make a smooth transition from being so busy into having time to write again on top of everything else.
But, I’m trying my damndest, so here’s the ‘cover art’ for the next fic I’m working on - set in the same universe as Strangers (which is a The Walking Dead/Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover) - called On The Road. I’m fiddling with the story at the moment, but it will center on a crossover between Supernatural and The Secret Circle - yes, I do realize that makes this four crossovers in one fic. Don’t waste all your shock and eye rolling on this one post, the extended universe of this fic is huge, lol.
I’m just now starting to watch Supernatural, so I hope everyone will bare with me if I make a few cannon mistakes. :)
